My weekend was as simple as it gets and it was due to one single factor. I drank an IPA when meeting my sole classmate in my french class (and his wife). Luckily I had a reasonably productive Saturday with my french lesson in the morning and then the gym after that. I went to the only brewery in Mimizan to meet my classmate and had a blast getting to know them. Unfortunately, I was feeling a bit adventurous and chose the beer of the month as my drink. The worst thing about the IPA curse is that I don’t drink them often enough to remember it exists. My punishment for the lack of memory was spending most of my Sunday in bed feeling disgusting. However, all that laying in bed resulted in the creation of this amazing new blog (you’re welcome).
My Monday wasn’t very noteworthy aside from having a good conversation with someone at the gym. Yesterday was more of the same, another workout and another conversation with a gym go-er. Buttttttttttttt, last night, I decided to look over everything for my upcoming vacation and realized that I had booked two different hostels for the same night and completely missed booking a hostel for my second to last night there. Mind you, this means I need to now find a hostel in Dublin (!) on a weekend (!!!), the cheapest option I found was 85 Euros and the most expensive was 196 Euros. New question for the masses: How are hostels able to charge that much? What happened to them being the affordable option for travelers. The hostel I booked in Edinburgh was only 18 Euro per night and now I’m paying a ton for a bed in a shared room. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy hostels a ton, I just don’t enjoy paying hotel/airbnb prices for them. I’m hoping to find some cool people to hang out with while I’m there to distract myself from the cost of my trip. Especially when as I book every trip, I recognize that my savings are dwindling and I’ll still have to make sure I have enough money to book a flight home and pay for bridal party responsibilities when finishing in France. But I’m doing my best to save that problem for my future self, and hoping everyday that she figures out what the fuck our plan will be when that time comes.
Anyway, to distract you from that slightly bitter end, I’m going to pay volleyball tonight (which I’m very excited about!) and I may post about tomorrow. If not, I leave for Scotland in a few days so I’ll have another, more exciting, update on the way. Thanks for reading, love you all.
