This past weekend was my third annual friendly reunion. Since it took place in Wisconsin this year, I made a trip of it. My first stop was in Ohio, where I saw an old coworker and introduced her to a buckeye chocolate. From there, I went on to Chicago to see some other friends. I stayed with a friend from high school that I hadn’t seen since sophomore year and cAught up with a friendly peer that skipped the reunion. Catching up with all those friends was a welcome reprieve from life and a great way to start my vacation time. The friendly reunion is a reliably noteworthy weekend every year. (For those who need context; it’s like a family reunion but for friends, Read about my First Year and Second Year here)
We all arrived friday night and had a welcome bonfire where we met new faces and caught up with returning friends. Saturday started for me shortly after sunrise. I met with some friends at the lakefront (This year’s camp had the best AMENITIES) and we set of on a morning kayak before breakfast. oh man, the provided food was not the best for me this year. I guess the camp doesn’t want to encourage vegetarians/vegans ?? Because most meals, not eating meat meant missing a key portion of the meal. After breakfast, we started choose our own adventure time. I spent my time on the lake before lunch. for lunch, me and a campmate broke off and went into town to eat and grab food to last us the rest of the weekend. coming back after lunch, we played some volleyball until we had freetime on the lake again. back on the lake, we played on all the inflatables provided. at one point, we had a relay race going around the course and i, on my one of many falls, fractured my finger. i didn’t realize the extent of the injury until returning back home after my trip but some peers buddy-taped my finger and I made it through the weekend relatively pain free. saturday night brought on our midwest survivor where I was reminded of my lack of cornhole skill. nevertheless, I had a great night and got to stargaze (in the freezing cold) before going to sleep. Sunday morning was an early start again, also on the lake. We had more free time then had our olympics (All I want for christmas is blueeeee) before having our final night SHENANIGANS. I missed out on a lot because i went to bed early (which honestly is for the best becAuse I had to drive to QC the next day). My road trip was cut a bit short as a result of my grandma being sick, but that was for the best because I had plenty of time to get my finger checked out. overall, great week with great people.
